freethorpe u15s

FREETHORPE U15s played a very good waveney A side in the cup.freethorpe were well beaten but remain strong.John Lees got Freethorpe's goal

U8s match report 28.11.04

Another very good performance by Freethorpe under 8's gave us a 6 - 0 victory which resulted in our first back to back win, and the first double of the season away at Norwich Road Rangers. Although it was an early start the long journey was soon forgotten as we once again grasped the game from the off, and soon were two goals in front scored by Oliver M with some sharp finishing which left the keeper with little chance. Some good positional play covering our defence by Kirby G and Curtis B allowed William J to power forward on two occasions to finish well, added to this another own goal from an Oliver M cross, gave us a 5 - 0 lead at half time. Brandon F kept a clean sheet and coped well whenever the defence actually let a shot through, Ashley S & Bailey O chased and tackled well from there subs. appearances, Curtis B was unlucky to miss a penalty after a great run had taken him clear only to be tripped from behind. Finally Oliver M completed his MOM performance with a long shot in the closing minute to give us a 6 - 0 victory and his second hattrick of the season. We have a much tougher game to test us at home with Burnt Hill next week but can look forward with more confidence after the last two games.

MATCH REPORT SUNDAY 28th NOVEMBER 2004-11-28
V;s BUNGAY away, League won 1-0

Freethorpe today were against Bungay “B”, in a league game.Freethorpe on the back of all league wins for November notched another fine win. Bungay started the game mainly defending in their own half were chasing the Freethorpe forwards everywhere.Freethorpe had several chances to take the lead but Bungay were defending extremely well. As the boys kept pushing forward it looked liked it was going to be one of those days. Full credit to both teams for a good standard of football, both showing determination,Freethorpe in attack and Bungay in defence. As half time came the score was still 0-0.Darren gave the team talk this week and as the game entered the second half, Freethorpe carried on where they had left off. Freethorpe still pushing very hard were finally rewarded for their efforts when Biddy shot the ball home. Freethorpe still pushing for more, to help their goal average, continued attacking but Bungay;s defence kept holding firm. Towards the end of the game Bungay had a couple of attacks but the Freethorpe keeper Adam, pulled off two fine saves. As the whistle blew Freethorpe held out for their deserved victory. Congratulations to Bungay for a very competitive game, and well done to Freethorpe for an all round team performance. Man of the match went to Danny, for his usual high standard game and showing examples of why he is our captain. Well done to everyone.

Subject: Freethorpe under 8's weekly report

This week saw a very good display from Freethorpe as we at last scored the goals our play has deserved over the previous weeks fixtures. This Sunday we did not need to concede goals to get us to wake up but took the game by the scruff of the neck from the start. It was rewarding to see the team pass the ball and create chances by at last running and calling for each other. There were several good performances, but Curtis B deserves the MOM award this week, he ran from box to box throughout the game and also added a very well taken goal. Oliver M again scored another brace of goals, apart from a deflected shot put down to an own goal he would have secured his second hat trick of the season. Further goals were scored by Ashley H and Kirby G with her first for the club, William J was not satisfied until he joined the others by scoring the final goal in the second half, which enabled us to finish the game 7 - 3 victors, we also welcomed Brandon F for his first game in goal who contributed some good saves. A good performance which we can hopefully build on in our next fixture.

Rachel could you please forward

Thanks,

Gary

This week met our best opposition to date Waveney B. We got off to a confident start with Liam s and Ollie tackling well ,Tom and Reece both looking lively causing the Waveney keeper a few problems which he delt with well.At half time we went in 1-0 up with Luke making two fine saves to keep us in it.In the second half Waveney turned the screw with some flowing football and we found ourselves 3-1 down in a matter of minuates, never giving up Aaron,Perry and Liam D worked hard to open up the Waveney defence, but it took two solo efforts from Reece to get us a point ,and him the m.o.m award. Well done everyone this week for playing right to the final whistle.

FREETHORPE UNDER 12;s

Match Report- Sunday 21st November 2004 , league away to St Bennetts Wasps
Final Score won 6-1

This week the boys were away to an improved Wasps side.Freethorpe this week had the luxury of two subs.Freethorpe started the stronger putting pressure on the wasps goal, and were quickly rewarded with the early goal when Callum struck home. This settled Freethorpe and more pressure paid off when the ball was bobbling around the Wasps goal and Cyrus popped up to head the ball in(yes, a header!) Wasps tried to battle back but Adam in goal was picking everything up. With Ben and Sam controlling midfield, Freethorpe were back on attack and Ben was rewarded for his hard working efforts with a shot on the edge of the box going in. As half time approached Freethorpe still pushing forward grabbed their forth when Josh had a run on the right and shooting which the keeper nearly pulled off a great save, but the ball crept over the line. The second half saw Wasps put us under pressure and Adam pulled of a great save to keep Wasps out. Dominic and Dan having their usual high standard game were defending brilliant and most of the attacks in the second half started from them. As the game went on Freethorpe had several chances to further score but were denied by a good Wasps keeper. A Freethorpe corner saw Sam score when he picked the ball up from outside the box and drove the ball home. Shortly after Biddy scored when chasing in on the keeper and the bounced of the keeper straight to him to score our sixth. Just as the game was coming to an end Dan went in for a tackle and was deemed to have fouled the Wasps player in the box and the Ref blew for a penalty. From the spot Wasps grabbed a consolation goal which they fully deserved for their efforts. A good team performance again from everyone, with Tom M, having an excellent game when he came on as left back. Man of the match went to Mattie, playing in two positions and not putting a foot wrong, well done lads.

This week played Burnt Hill away. The game looked very close at the start with both teams defending well. Freethorpe worked hard on disciplined defending and passing the ball. Liam S had a great game at the back tackerling strongly and marking closely. Perry played well again defending, using his quick feet, turns and passing excellently. Thomas scored for Freethorpe to take the lead after a Reece pass. The rest of the half was very even with Alex holding well in midfield Aaron and Ollie working hard and Luke pulling off two great saves just before half time.
The second period saw Freethorpe looking the better side. Reece had a good long range effort early in the half. Perry continued his good display with several more good tackles and passes.
Reece then went on a great run down the left and pulled it back for Thomas to get his second goal. Thomas completed his hat-trick and M.O.M display from long range.
Luke kicked well throughout the 2nd half and Liam D went close late on. A great passing move saw Reece get a deserved goal. Burnt Hill got a consolation goal late in the match for Freethorpe to win 4-1. Well done the team a good all-round display.

FREETHORPE UNDER 12;s match report

Harleston V Freethorpe, Sunday 14th November 2004

This week the boys were away to second placed Harleston, in a league game. Freethorpe, who were missing 5 players, played to the highest level from the start. Freethorpe defence, with Danny,Dominic,Peter holding very strong, and Mattie playing as centre half/sweeper for the first time this season played exceptionally well. The first half Freethorpe were camped inside the Harleston half and although they put so much pressure on the Harleston defence just couldn’t find a breakthrough. The midfield,Perry,Callum,James and Ben,who was magnificent, were carving up opertunities one after the other. As midway through the first half approached Freethorpe were rewarded for their efforts. A goal mouth scramble and the ball was unfortunately knocked into the Harleston net by one of their players to give Freethorpe the lead. It was really good to see the boys take the game to Harleston this week and nearly everyone had a part to play in our second goal. Just before half time the ball was passed around from defence to midfield, upto the front two of Sam and James H, and eventually was passed to James D who slotted it home for our second. The half time talk was focused on more of the same for the second half. As the second half got under way, for the first time in the match, Freethorpe were under a bit of pressure, but when Harleston did eventually get through Adam was their to make some good saves. As the game wore on I thought we might get tired as we only had the 11 players, but all credit to the lads they even got stronger towards the end and were denied a couple more chances by the Harleston keeper who had a good game. As the whistle finally blew Freethorpe came out 2-0 winners. Man of the match went to Ben for his excellent vision during the game, threading some dangerous balls through and also for his efforts of defending in the second half. The whole team played their socks off this week, as it was because of the efforts you all put in we came out triumphant. Feet back on the floor for next week !

Freethorpe under 8's had no competitive fixture this week but had the opportunity to take part in three very enjoyable friendly matches with Blofield, we would wish to thank Blofield for there hospitality and look forward to perhaps playing them again if we both have blank weeks.
The three fixtures gave us the chance to experiment with different line ups and will hopefully help us with selection for Sunday's home match, 1130 kick off against Gorleston Rangers C.
