Another mixed performance on Sunday brought another defeat at the hands of a strong Bungay team, although the defeat was by 7 goals to 2, there was some moments of encouragement during the game.
Passages of the game showed some good passing, and effort was alot better this week after the disappointment of the previous week, we commenced the first 5 minutes on an even footing only to be caught from a quick ball in from the wing, poked home by the Bungay forward. Bungay were physically a bigger side than ourselves and there strength allowed them to finish the half 4 - 0 up.
An improved performance in the second half with a few missed chances by both sides, gave a score of 3 -2 for the half and an overall 7 - 2 victory for Bungay, if we can continue to pass and try as hard as we did in the second half, better results should follow.
Goals this week were from Ashley H. & Oliver M and some solid performances throughout the team made it not all doom and gloom.

FREETHORPE U9S
This week played Gorleston Rangers C in the quarter final of the shield. Freethorpe were first out of the blocks having all the early pressure with the lively Reece causing Rangers problems.
After a good effort was saved Reece scored for Freethorpe to take the lead. Alex was again prominent with some strong runs as Freethorpe continued to press. Perry was defending well and starting play off with some good passing. Despite Liam S defending strongly Rangers broke away and scored from there first break. Shortly afterwards Rangers took the lead when a corner resulted in a o.g.
Freethorpe heads dropped and Rangers began to "boss" the game and scored again to lead 3-1 at the break.
The second half was much better with Thomas, Reece and Liam D all being thwarted by a good Rangers goalkeeper. Aaron and Ollie tried hard but the whole team struggled to break Rangers down.M.O.M Luke in goal had a good second half coming off his line well and kicking long. All Freethorpes efforts came to avail and Rangers scored late to win 4-1.
We must learn as Andy said to win or lose as a team. No moaning at each other.

Lack of concentration and a below par performance added to our continuing run of defeats, although this was another defeat, in other weeks we have had the opportunity to feel unlucky with some missed chances and good defending by the opposition. However this weeks defeat by 3 goals to 1 was a fair reflection of the play, we lacked shape throughout the game and really contributed to our own defeat by poor marking and organisation. The team had to be reshaped due to a late call off and we never coped throughout the match.
Bright points to mention, were a MOM performance by Ashley S. who tackled and watched the ball well, Ben C. played well again on his second performance of the year and Oliver M played well in a different role and contributed a fine free kick for our only goal. William J, Kirby G, Ashley H and Bailey O all ran hard and made there contributions on what was not to be our day. Brandon F made some good stops in his first half appearance.
Next weeks fixture is away at Bungay where an improved performance all round will be needed.

FREETHORPE U9s
This week played top of the league Gorleston F.C B, playing up the hill in the first half Freethorpe put in a sound performance against good opponents. Liam S and Alex P both defended very well. Liam S kept a good Gorleston striker quiet with his pace, hard tackerling and good marking to earn him Andy's M.O.M. Thomas, Reece and Perry all tried hard against big and skilful players. However late in the half Gorleston did score twice to lead 2-0 at the break.
The second half saw Freethorpe chase the game and Gorleston scored again on the break, Reece quickly scored to reduce the deficit. As Freethorpe continued to search for goals they were always stretched at the back, with Ollie and Aaron doing there best despite some good goal keeping by Luke Gorleston scored twice more to lead 5-1. Freethorpe continued to push for goals with Liam D and Thomas giving there all they were rewarded with a late consolation goal from Reece to lose the game 5-2. A good team effort against good opposition.

2005 has begun as 2004 had ended, we were late to wake up from too much Christmas fayre and after an even first ten minutes gifted Gorleston 2 quick goals to put ourselves on the backfoot straight away. We then managed to pull a goal back through a good break with Oliver M finishing his opportunity well, we then conceded another sucker punch goal to end the half 3 - 1 down, although the score did not reflect the closeness of the 2 teams. The second half continued with another disappointment although we ended up losing the game by 4 - 3, we once again dominated the half and failed to convert the many chances we created. Our 2 goals came from Kirby G and Curtis B and Gorleston's goal came from a deflected free kick, Gorleston also deserve credit for there defending, and a combination of the woodwork and good goalkeeping resulted in another defeat. This weeks MOM was just won by Oliver M, and there were good performances from Curtis B, Kirby G & Bailey O, Danny E and Ashley H did well from the bench when they came on. Finally it was a good performance from Ben C in goal when he had to come on early to replace Brandon F who was injured early on and could not continue.

Played Hemsby away. The wind was a big factor in a game contested by two even sides. The first half saw Hemsby putting Freethorpe under pressure. Freethorpe defended well against the wind with Liam S tackerling everywhere, Alex as always dominant in the midfield, Reece and Thomas working back well also helping the defence, Perry always covering as last man and Aaron having his best match of the season hard in the tackle and good passing. Luke in goal made two excellent saves but was beaten once late on in the half for Hemsby to lead 1-0 at the break.
The second half saw the game reverse as Freethorpe had the wind. Ever dangerous Reece quickly equlised for Freethorpe from long range. Much of the second period was spent in Hemsbys half Liam D looked dangerous up front. Ollie defended well and Perry covering both sides when Hemsby did attack. Thomas worked hard all game with no luck and Aaron continued his good work to earn him M.O.M. Luke was called upon twice more to save well and he kicked long with the wind.
Neither team could get the winning goal and the game finished 1-1.
