FREETHORPE U13s

Freethorpe U13's having made slow but steady progress over the last few games, the boys took a giant step backwards this week losing against Hempnall 11-1. At half time the score was only 2-0, but it seems that the majority of boys decided to give up then with only four players putting in any real effort, our only goal coming from Dominic. Disappoiting result as we were in with a chance in the first half. This week away to SC Rangers kick off 2pm.

V Pakefield C. Score 0-8.
Yet another great effort by all our players. The score line hides the commitment they have given. Bailey was Player of the match as he gave an almost perfect performance but in truth the whole team deserved something. That's all for now Home cup game next week V Gorleston Rangers F.

FREETHORPE U13S

FREETHORPE U13's have continued a slow but steady adjustment in the second division, having now won their first game of the season 5-2 against Gorleston B. Goals came from Ben (2), Dan (2) and Sam (1). All credit to Gorleston, which if every game was played in this spirit, results would not matter half as much. Well done to all the team who once again worked tirelessly throughout the game. Freethorpe still have a very small, younger squad, so any new players especially current school year 8's would be very welc

This week played St.Benets away. the game started with both teams looking evenly matched. Freethorpe's defence looked good with Elizabeth G and Georgia G continuing their good early season form with some great tackles and interceptions. Erin K looking more confident each week had a good early shot which went wide. After some sustained pressure St.Benets took the lead. Isabel S in goal was back to her best making some great saves with both hand and feet and kicking long. Despite some good play from Freethorpe St.Benets scored again. Freethorpe heads did not drop and with Charlotte B and Olivia S working hard in midfield Megan S scored with a great shot. The second half saw the team continue to play well with Melissa H, Jessica H, Molly D and Claire A all doing there best for the team. Despite this and more great saves by Isabel S St.Benets scored 3 more times to win the game 5-1. Great effort and improvement by the whole team.

FREETHORPE U11 GIRLS
Played against Gorleston girls at Gorleston, Freethorpe got off to a good start by putting Gorleston under pressure but the 4-0 score- line at the break does not reflect the tireless hard work all the girls put in especially Melissa H whom had boundless energy. A few changes were made but Gorleston's match play experience shone through. Rebekah G had a couple of good runs forward in the second half but was not rewarded. Freethorpe were continually put under pressure resulting in Gorleston taking their score line to 10-0. Although all the girls have not been mentioned by name their performance and determination is not in doubt it is their match play inexperience keep learning and we'll get there. Well done to the girls who headed the ball this week. All the girls can feel very proud of themselves because all of Freethorpe Football club are.

FREETHORPE U 13s

FREETHORPE U13'S started with ten players for the second time this season against Mutford. However, despite the score ending 8-2 to Mutford, it was a much improved performance. In the first half the boys battled well keeping the half time score to 0-0. Unfortunately a mad fifteen minutes into the second half saw the boys concede a quick four goals. However, they kept going and scored a couple of goals by Dan and Dominic. Thanks to Mutford for delaying the kick off because of traffic congestion. This week at home to Bungay A 10.30 am kick off. Arrive at playing field for 10.00am.

This week played Waveney Herons at Freethorpe with a crowd of 40 spectators. Although Freethorpe were heavily beaten 16-1 by a strong and skilful Waveney many positives can be drawn from the game. The girls heads did not drop once, there effort and enthusiasm for the game is an inspiration to us all within the club.
Isabel S in goal continued her rapid development as a goalkeeper having another great game, Erin K is starting to impose herself on the game fulfilling her promise, Rebekah G is a constant nuisance to the opposition all over the park, Georgia G and Elizabeth G continue to defend well for the team, Melissa H, Lauren S and Molly D all had there best games to date, Megan S will become a strong asset to the team when she realises it is ok to use her physical presence to her advantage. Charlotte B and Olivia S both continue to improve in there difficult midfield positions.
Freethorpe's goal came after a great run by Rebekah G caused confusion and resulted in a O.G.

This week had a cracking game against top of the league Mutford. The game started with both teams looking 'up for it'. Reece C had a fierce early shot beaten away. Despite some great defending by Alex P and Liam S Mutford scored twice to lead 2-0 after 8 minutes. The response from Freethorpe was good as they gradually worked themselves back into the game with some good passing football from Perry K, Thomas H and Ronnie B.
Luke H in goal was in great form saving, blocking and kicking long. Just before half-time after some good work by Reece C, Thomas H scored with a sweet strike from 12 yards.
The second period continued to be a close game Ollie D defended with guile, Aaron C tackled hard and Liam D used his pace to run at Mutford. Nothing quite went Freethorpe's way with three excellent chances going begging. Mutford however scored two more to win 4-1. Alex P was excellent in defence but M.O.M went to Luke H for a great all-round goalkeeping display.
