freethorpe u11 girls

Freethorpe U11 Girls.

Played Stalham away this week and put in a great team effort displaying skill, positional sense, hard tackerling, and most of all great team spirit.

The first half started with Freethorpe kicking down the considerable slope. The game was evenly matched with Erin k,Rebekah G,and Jessica H all causing Stalham problems when Freethorpe attacked.Missy H held well just in front of the back line. When Stalham did break through they found Ellie P waiting with some great tackles, intelligent interceptions and good first time clearances.
Elizabeth G was also in great form in making a formidable defensive partnership.Libby B in goal was again brave, strong and positive.

After 14 minutes Erin K took a snap shot from outside the area finding the bottom corner of Stalhams goal for Freethorpe to lead 1-0.Stalham were galvanised into action and despite some good defensive work from Lily B and Molly D Stalham equalised in first half overtime.

The second period saw Stalham pressurise Freethorpe from the off.Claire A and Isabel S worked hard in midfield to no avail as Stalham quickly scored three times to lead 4-1.Freethorpe heads did not drop and they worked themselves back into the game with some great football but sadly could not reduce the arrears and lost the game 1-4.

Twelve months on from the launch of training for the girls this was a true team performance where they looked and played like footballers. The future looks bright and success will come if the team continues to listen, learn and develop at the pace they have since inception.Don't forget keep smiling and enjoy your football.

FREETHORPE U13S

FREETHORPE U13'S despite only having ten players put on a very good defensive display against a very good Hempnall side. Freethorpe held the opposition at bay for most of the first half and took the lead five minutes from half-time following good work by Harry and Dominic to then set Ben up for the goal. Straight from the restart saw a good save by Matthew only for the Hempnall striker to then tap it back in. In the second half Freethorpe defended with everything they had, unfortunately tiredness then began to set in and with around fifteen minutes to full time Hempnall scored two quick goals and the game looked over. But credit to the Freethorpe boys who came back with a further goal following a penalty awarded to Dominic and taken by Dan. However, Freethorpe had really nothing else to give and Hempnall got three very late goals. The final score 6-2 was a little harsh, however Hempnall deserved the win. Well done to all the boys, for their utter hard work and committment throughout the game. Also well done to Sam who lasted the whole game despite being ill.
