Frrethorpe u!4`s After last weeks 3-1 win against a much improved gorleston side this week Freethorpe put in a very good performance to beat loddon 1-0. Freethorpe created lots of half chances but took untill the second half to get the goal their play deserved. This was scored by N Howard following good work by M Robinson. Well played all in defence first clean sheet for a while with Ben in goal having little to do.This week we well have to b at our very best to have a chance in the cup SF v`s Shublands A

FREETHORPE FC U14

Freethorpe U14's played in a tough game against Shrublands B in the first round of the cup. Although Freethorpe won, this was a game they could easily have lost. Freethorpe started well and took the lead via a goal from Nathan only to then concede a goal from a free kick. After this Shrublands spent most of the time in and around Freethorpe's 18 yard box and could they have been at least 4-1 up at half time. The score however remained 1-1 at this point. At the beginning of the second half Shrublands deservedly went into a 3-1 lead. Following this the game was to completely change. Thanks to good saves by Ben, a great goal line clearance by Dan and then a hattrick from Nathan followed by a good goal from Mark, Freethorpe ended up winning 5-3. Hopefully this game was a wake up call for all the boys as they have now used up a huge slice of this seasons' good luck. Thanks go the the referee and all the supporters. Next game at home against Hemsby kick off 1.30pm.

FREETHORPE U10 MATCH REPORT 7/10/07

Freethorpe this week travelled to Swindell B in the cup and played out a hard fought game against evenly matched opposition. In a tight 1st half display, Freethorpe done well to keep a clean sheet, however seemed to find it difficult adjusting to a slightly bigger pitch and rarely threatened the Swindell goalkeeper. The teams went in 0v0 at the break, however the 2nd half was to be a much more open game, with some tough but fair tackling from both sides causing a few stoppages in play. Swindell took the lead early in the 2nd period, after a goalkeeping error left a Swindell attacker with an open goal from 4 yards out making the score 0v1. Freethorpe continued to battle after going behind, against a Swindell side who played some nice football at times. Matthew had a solid game at the back making some important tackles against a Swindell side breaking forward regularly. Freethorpe did have a couple of opportunities to score in the 2nd period, with Jordan-Lee hitting a nice shot well saved and Lee who bursted through the swindell defence shortly after coming on, only to be denied by the Swindell keeper. Midway through the 2nd half, Swindell were awarded a penalty and had they scored the game would surely have been over, however an excellent save by Ben in the Freethorpe goal ensured Freethorpe kept only a one goal deficit. Ben was to make a couple of other important saves after this, to keep Freethorpe in the game. Towards the end of the game Freethorpe pushed on and kept the pressure on Swindell defence, with only seconds remaining Matthew bursted through and hit a powerful shot from outside the area, Jordan-Lee reacted quickest in the Swindell Box and controled the ball and swivelled, however was unfortuantly unable to get any power on his shot, this was to prove Freethorpes last effort before the final whistle went. Freethorpe can go home with their heads held high, with all players giving a 110% throughout the game. MoM Ben for a 1st class penalty save and solid performance. FREETHORPE FC U10 23/9/07

Freethorpe this week travelled to Caister B on a bright sunny morning for football. Freethorpe started really well, playing some neat passing football and were unlucky not to score on a couple of occasions, with Henry and Jordan-Lee showing some excellent link up play. Caister were battling well and took the lead, when an opportunist shot from way out caught Ben unaware and landed in the back of the net. From this moment on Freethorpe started to dominate, using the full width of the pitch and Freethorpe supporters were treated with some attractive passing football, some of the best seen since the majority of lads started playing together a couple of years ago. Before long, Freethorpe and drawn level, after a cross from Ashley found Henry at the far post and a neat finish from close range levelled the scores at 1v1. With Freethorpe gathering momentum, a corner from Ashley was met by the head of Jordan-Lee, whilst the ball hit the post, it fell back at his feet and a nice finish meant Freethorpe went 2v1 up. Freethorpe went further ahead with our midfield dynamo Tyler getting in on the act shortly before half time. Whilst the score remained 3v1 up until half time, Freethorpe had numerous chances and were unlucky not to extend their lead further. In the 2nd half, it was a much closer affair with Caister really working hard to try and get back in the game. With our keeper Ben having a quiet game in the 1st half, there was certainly more for him to do in the 2nd and some excellent saves helped protect Freethorpes lead. Midway through the 2nd period, Jordan-Lee flicked the ball over the last defender and with only the keep to beat finished excellently. The game finished 4v1, with Freethorpe picking up their 1st 3 points of the season - this really was a good team performance with everyone playing their part. MoM Henry - who caused opposition problems throughout.

Freethorpe under 12 girls played against Gorleston Rangers in the first round of the cup. With all the girls as keen as ever and great parental support Freethorpe showed great confidence on the pitch throughout the game. Freethorpe kept Rangers on their toes from start to finish. There was excellent defending by Ellen, Danielle,Shannon, and Kay and terrific goal keeping by Libby. Despite their great effort throughout the game Rangers found the back of the net after Libby made a great save only to see the ball replayed quickly and find its way past her. The girls never dropped their game, with Betheny, Emma, Sam and Kayleigh making some fantastic attempts at goal but Rangers good defence made it impossible for the ball to find its way home. Freethorpe continued to work really hard in the second half but were unable to stop a second goal from Rangers. This game saw Freethorpe girls playing some of their best football to date.

U14 MATCH REPORT 16/9/07

Freethorpe U14's began their season with a win over Kirkley and Pakefield B in the preliminary round of the Cup. The boys played extremely well considering we only had the bare eleven players. If it had not been for Bradley Owen stepping in at the very last minute, from the U13's, we would have been without a goalkeeper. After a goaless first half Freethorpe took the lead through Dan from a free kick, only for Pakefield to equalise with only twenty seconds before full time. Then with no goals in extra time it was down to penalties. Freethorpe scored all five and with Pakefield scoring their first four, sudden death penalties looked inevitable until Bradley pulled off an excellent save to put us through. Huge thanks go to Bradley and his parents for helping us out. All in all a great game by all, played in the right way, very good spirited and well supported. Thanks go to the referee. The team was Bradley, Tom M, Dan, Dominic, Sam, Josh, Tom C, Mark, Nathan, Elliott and James Dowsett. Freethorpe are pictured proudly wearing their new kit which has been sponsored by Richardsons Holidays and they also have new Xara training/wet jackets supplied by Mr Kelvin Howard, our thanks go to both. Freethorpe U10 match report

Freethorpe this week travelled to Waveney B to play in the cup. Freethorpe came out of the traps quickly and scored early on with Jordan-Lee latching on to a throughball and slotting the ball past Waveney keeper. Within a couple of minutes a long range shot from Ashley bounced awkwardly in front of the opposition keeper and found its way into the net making the score 2v0. Freethorpe kept on the attack and before long found their 3rd goal, with a neat finish from Henry, whose goal was deserved in a lively 1st half performance. Waveney managed to get a goal back after some confusion in defence left Ben in goal with little chance with a forward running through 1 on 1. Jordan-Lee rounded of the scoring in the 1st half, with an opportunist finish from close range as the Waveney defence failed to clear the ball. With the half time score 4v1, Freethorpe should have gone on and won the game with ease, however when the whistle went in the 2nd half, it was Waveney who looked most threatening, with many of the Freethorpe players looking a yard or two of the pace. Before long Waveney got the goal they deserved, albiet slightly fortuantly after a Freethorpe pass was intercepted by the referee and feel kindly to Waveney who broke away and scored making the score 4v2. From this moment on, Freethorpe seemed to wake up again and had numerous chances to extend their lead before an excellent piece of vision and a pass from Jordan-Lee led to Tyler breaking through and finishing with a low shot into the corner. The game finished 5v2 and Freethorpe can pleased with this performance - our 1st ever victory in a cup competition. MoM Jordan-Lee - a 2 goal salvo and solid all round performance upfront. FREETHORPE U13 (Summer Report)Following their success in the Acle tournament, Freethorpe put a team in the FITC Flybe Tournament and done especially well to reach the semi-finals. In the tough group stages they won 5 and drew 1 to top the group, only to then lose in the semi-final 1-0 to a very good Old Catton side. We then entered the Canary Cup with an A and B team. The B team were missing a key player and lost another due to injury so very well done to them to finish 2nd in their group and to reach the quarter finals. Things initially did not look good for the A team after finding out they had lost a player a day prior to the game which left only four. Some very quick thinking by the manager managed to find a replacement. The new lad settled in very quickly and the team put in a fantasic performance against some very good teams scoring 29 goals and conceding only 4. In the quarter finals against a very strong Downham side they put in the best performance to date. They then progressed to the final to play a good Drayton side and won. A very good summer and hopefully if we can now take this to 11 aside we will have a very good season. Training has now resumed at Freethorpe Playing Field 6-7.15pm every Wednesday in preparation for the step up to the 2nd division. So far signs are good and it already looks as if we will be fielding 11 players for the first time in two seasons, there may even be serious competiion for places.Pictures are the A team with the Canary Cup. Freethorpe U13's played and won 1-0 the title decider against Waveney B in a very close game. Freethorpe started kicking into the wind in what turned out to be a very close first half with both sides hitting the post. Ben made some great saves and Freethorpe unfortunately missed a couple of good chances. The second half was much of the same until Freethorpe won a penalty after Mark was fouled following a good run into the box. The penalty was well taken by Dan. Straight from the kick off Waveney then piled pressure on the Freethorpe goal for the following five minutes and despite three mega goalmouth scrambles Freethorpe somehow kept the ball out. After this the game went back to normal with a couple more chances at each end. All in all a good game played in the right way with a good referee and support from both sides. Freethorpe have had a very good season especially considering the small amount of players they have to choose from. They have played over half their games with the bare eleven players or less including four of those games with only ten and one with nine. Despite lack of players they have not only managed to win their league they have never lost a game all season. However, Freethorpe will not get away with lack of players next season in Division 2 and will need at least three new players to strengthen the squad.

Freethorpe played their last away fixture against a competitive Waveney B side. Freethorpe opened the scoring on three minutes when Cameron latched onto a long ball, his pace beating the Waveney defence before slipping the ball past the on rushing keeper. A clearance by Jack was collected by Tom, his pass finding the ever-present Reece and Freethorpe found themselves 2-0 up. Despite Waveney piling the pressure onto Freethorpe's goal their defencive four stood firm. More chances to increase Freethorpe's goal tally went begging with Aaron hitting the post and side netting and Cameron's shot rolling wide of the under fire Waveney goal. In a evenly matched game Waveney had their chances too, pulling one goal back just before the half time whistle. After the re-start Waveney continued to press Freethorpe and quickly levelled the score. Freethorpe then lost their shape for a time before Reece went on a spirited solo run beating three defenders before skipping round the Waveney keeper for a tap in. Again Waveney put up a fight levelling the score 3-3. Waveney continued to push for the win, but Ollie and the improving Sam made several vital clearances. Jake put in another good performance holding up the ball in midfield. With just 5 minutes left to play Reece was off again, leaving a trail of beaten defenders in his wake. His neat finish securing his hat-trick. Waveney then attacked Freethorpe's goal again , it looked as if a goal was certain , but with tremendous effort from Aaron, Ryan and goalkeeper Marcus the attack was broke up. Another good goalkick from Marcus found Reece who squared the ball to the right wing to the on-form Aaron, his shot slotting in beneath the diving Waveney Keeper. An entertaining game played by two evenly matched sides. A jubilant Freethorpe the victors 5-3 finally winning their first away game, a well deserved result for such a well played team effort. Well done to the whole team. M.o.M was Jack for his faultless performance.

FREETHORPE U13's successfully got to the final of the Shield after beating Halesworth 3-1. As expected when playing a first division team Freethorpe were a little off the pace for the first twenty minutes, but did get players behind the ball and with three great saves from Ben kept Halesworth out until they settled in. After this, things then evened out and Freethorpe took the lead via a good ball from Dan with an equally good finish from Dominic Smith. Halesworth came back to equalise a little later making the game look very even once again. Freethorpe then took the lead again with a great goal again starting at the back from Dan then to Mark to play in for Dominic Smith to finish well again. Half time score was then 2-1. The second half again was very evenly matched until twenty minutes from time when Sam hit the third in with a good finish from around the penalty spot. After this Freethorpe changed players around and virtually 'shut up shop' apart from a couple of scares were comfortable to the end. Very good performance from the whole team who all played their part well. Let's hope Freethorpe can do themselves justice in the Final which will not be an easy game.

Gorleston Rangers V Freethorpe under 14 girls
The girls arrived for today’s game to the news Mia had decided to call it a day so they were going to be one player short from the kick off, to their and Mandy’s credit they did not allow this to dampen their enthusiasm.
The game kicked off an early pressure came from Freethorpe who camped themselves in Gorleston half. Megan and Ellen were interchanging well in the centre and out wide Chelsea and Ami were covering a lot of ground putting pressure on Gorleston without creating any clear cut openings. When Gorleston made a rare attack Hannah and Georgia looked assured at the back winning everything protecting Charlotte in the goal and not allowing Gorleston to settle. As the half wore on Gorleston began to use their extra man and against the run of play scored a goal when for the first time they had a player over up front. Freethorpe then switched off for the first time and Gorleston went further in front with a low shot that went in off the post, hard luck on Freethorpe as there was a hint of offside. Georgia then made a brave challenge but in the process was injured and forced to leave the field. This still did not deter the spirited Freethorpe team Hannah cut out a Gorleston attack and put the hard working Louise through who unleashed a low hard shot which beat the keeper but went agonisingly just past the post. Half time Gorleston 2 Freethorpe 0.
Freethorpe were under pressure from the re-start and Charlotte had to make a good save just under the bar. The defence was working tirelessly with Hannah seeming to cover every blade of grass. Gorleston eventually scored again Ellen was injured in the process and had to leave the field reducing Freethorpe to 6 players. Freethorpe were using the offside trap to great effect regularly catching Gorleston offside. Ellen recovered and joined a rare Freethorpe attack Chelsea and Ami made good progress down the left and shear weight of numbers prevented Louise from scoring what would have been a well deserved goal. Freethorpe were not having any luck and Gorleston scored a forth goal from yet another offside position. Final score Gorleston 4 Freethorpe 0.
The score in no way reflected the closeness of the game and how hard Freethorpe worked they left the field with their heads held high , manager Mandy and the many supporters and parents being extremely proud of what the girls achieved and with a full team would undoubtedly of won.
Girl of the match was Hannah her effort commitment tackling was outstanding, each and everyone of the girls deserve special praise for this performance.

Freethorpe travelled to Lowestoft on Sunday to face a competetive Gunton Youth side, on a beautiful day for football. In the 1st half, Freethorpe worked hard, however playing on a bigger pitch than usual, things were difficult, especially playing uphill, despite there being lots of space which enabled both sides to play some good passing football. Despite threatening on a number of occasions, Freethorpe were unable to score the goal they needed and at half time, the sides went in 0v0. In the 2nd half, both teams came out and in the early stages, it was the Gunton side who looked more likely to score, playing some nice football and catching the Freethorpe defence sleeping. However, some good goal keeping by Ben and some excellent defending from Ashley kept the opposition strikers at bay. Midway through the 2nd half, Gunton got the goal they deserved to make the score 0v1 and from then on, it was an upward battle for Freethorpe, who really needed a win today to keep them pushing for the finishing position of 2nd place that they have worked hard for all season. As the half went on, Freethorpe finally got back into the game, an excellent through ball from Jordan-Lee sent Tyler through and a long range shot beet the keeper making the score 1v1. Despite coming close on a few other occasions, it was such an even game, that neither side really deserved to win. The final whistle went with the score 1v1. MoM Ashley, for an excellent performance, in both defence and attack. Next game 1st April at home against Bungay Town. – details to be confirmed

FREETHORPE U13S

FREETHORPE U13'S playing their only second game since December 10th were missing thir goalkeeper and several other players this week. Rather than call off the game Freethorpe played with only nine against Pakefield C. Despite this setback Freethorpe created more than enough chances to finish the game with their 2 4 2 formation in the first half, but did not take them while making unfortunate mistakes at the back, so at half time the score was 2-2. The second half was a little more even though at 4-3 up with only two minutes to go it looked as if the nine players had done it. However, Freethorpe then conceded a very silly freekick with 30 seconds left and Pakefield equalised. Freethorpe's goals came from Dominic Smith 2, Tom Charles 1 and James Dowsett 1. It should be noted that the manager and other club officials are at every game and training sessions so where were the missing unaccounted for players this week. Players need to be at every training session and game unless there is a valid reason not to be. Freethorpe's players put in a hardworking, exhausting performance but were let down by the others who did not play.

FREETHORPE U9S MATCH REPORT

Freethorpe this week travelled to a strong Hembsy C side, who earlier in the season had beaten us in a tightly contested game. Freethorpe started slowly, on a heavy pitch, however soon found there way, with Jordan-Lee working hard up front, Tyler and Henry battling in midfield, and Ashley and Joseph keeping things tight at the back. Within 5 minutes Freethorpe found themselves in front, an excellent corner by Ashley was parried by the keeper, the ball fell to Tyler whose attempted shot found its way to Henry, who slotted the ball home from 2-3 yards, making the score 1v0. Shortly afterwards, Jordan-Lee chased down a through ball, beat his man and his shot deflected off the keeper back off his legs and rolled over the line, leaving the score 2v0. With Hemsby C losing a player due to injury, Freethorpe piled on the pressure and not before long, Ashley burst through and pounced, blasting the ball home after another good save by the Hemsby keeper making the score 3v0 before the half time whistle. In the 2nd half, it was much tighter affair, with Ben being called into action in goal on numerous occasions and Lee making some important tackles in defence. However, despite Hemsby working hard to get back in the game, Freethorpe always looked dangerous on the counter attack, with the teams new formation working well. As the 2nd half drew to a close, another quick break from Tyler left him in shooting territory and excellent shot was parried by the keeper, only to fall to the advancing Matthew who finished well from 4 yards, for his 1st of the season. The game finished 4v0 and this was a very pleasing result and an excellent performance from everyone in the squad, with everyone playing their part. MoM Henry, our new midfield dynamo, who worked tirelessly in both attack and defence. Next match at home to Bungay Town, kick off time to be arranged.

IT WAS A TENSE FINAL 10 MINUTES WITH THE WEATHER CONDITIONS TAKING ITS TOLL AND A LAPSE IN CONCENTRATION GIVING THE BOHS 2 MORE GOALS.FREETHORPE TRIED THEIR HARDEST TO GET BACK AN EQUALISER BUT WERE UNABLE TO DO SO.THE FINAL WHISTLE CAME AND THE BOHS HAD WON 3-2.

FREETHORPE SHOULD HAVE HAD THE WIN WITH ALL THEIR HARD WORK AND A LARGER PERCENTAGE OF THE PLAY.WELL DONE TO ALL THE GIRLS FOR AN EXCELLENT GAME AND TO THE PARENTS FOR ALL THEIR SUPPORT AND ENCOURAGEMENT IN WHAT WAS HORRID WEATHER.

Freethorpe this week played a big Hempnall B team and got back to winning ways after a disappointing result in the previous week. With a change in formation at the start, Freethorpe piled on the early pressure, with Henry, Jordan-Lee and Tyler working hard and making things difficult for the opposition defence. Within 5 minutes Freethorpe went 1v0 up with a tidy finish from Henry and shortly after, scored again with Jordan-Lee poking a ball home from 3-4 yards, with a shot which hit the post and just bobbled over the line. With a solid defensive performance from Matthew and Ashley at the back, Freethorpe had the foundation to push on and create further chances. An excellent corner from Ashley, found Tyler who struck the ball home making the score 3v0 and this is how it remained until half time. In the 2nd half, a nicely worked passing move started by Henry, found Jordan-Lee who had lost his marker, a composed finish gave him his 16th goal of the season and made the score 4v0. A poor clearance by the Freethorpe defence led to a consolation goal from the Hempnall B side, which keeper Ben was unlucky not to keep out - despite making a cracking save down at his near post. Throughout the 2nd half, Henry was causing real problems for the Hempnall defence with his speedy ball control and dribbling skills - after a long mazy run into the Hempnall box, the ball found its way to Liam who finished nicely past the Hempnall keeper making the score 5v1. Ashleys long throws and corners were a constant threat and it wasnt long before Freethorpe found themselves further ahead, when a nicely struck corner was met by Liam, who finished with an excellent header from 5-6 yards out. The game finished 6v1 and this was a much improved team performance. MoM Liam, two excellent goals from a player who has shown the right attitude throughout the season. This week Freethorpe travelled to an on form Swindell B team, with the match played in front of a big crowd. On an excellent day for football, Freethorpe started slowly and never got into the game during the first half. Swindell B played some excellent football, breaking quickly throughout the 1st half, creating numerous problems for the Freethorpe defence. Swindell scored 3 good goals during the 1st period and well deserved their 3v0 half time lead. As a team, Freethorpe must learn to defend much better, on too many occasions the boys were found ball watching, leaving a helpless Ben in goal to pick the ball out of the net. There was also a severe lack of the good passing football seen from the team throughoput the season. After a strong half time talk, the boys came out and performed much better, finally making it a competetive game of football. With Tyler working hard in midfield, tackling hard and moving the ball well, the boys looked much more of a threat, with Lee coming close in a goal line scramble. Another defensive slip up midway through the 2nd half meant another goal conceded, with four players guilty of chasing the same ball from a corner and leaving an opposition attacker free in the box to slot past Ben in the Freethorpe goal. Despite this, the team kept working hard and soon earnt a just reward, with Jordan-Lee fouled in the Swindell box and the referree giving a penalty. Jordan-Lee stepped up for the penalty, however blasted the ball wide. Freethorpe continued to press and a driving run and excellent finish from Tyler finally gave Freethorpe the goal they deserved for their 2nd half efforts. Shortly afterwards a long ball from Swindell was cleared by Ashley, however his clearence hit Matthew, with the ball falling straight to a Swindell striker, a long range shot went under the diving Ben into the corner of net. The game finished 5v1 with Swindell deserving their win, Freethorpe must learn from this defeat, every player needs to be more aware of their positions and responsibilities and must start playing the passing football we are trying to encourage in training. Freethorpe U9 Match report

Freethorpe played their 1st game of the new year, at home to a strong Pakefield E team. The 1st half started poorly with Pakefield scoring an excellent goal after some sleepy defending by the Freethorpe defence. The xmas break and lack of matches in recent weeks, was very much evident, with things made even harder with our midfield talisman Tyler missing most of the 1st half. Freethorpe did threaten a couple of times as the half went on, however too many anxious passes and slack finishing meant they went into the break 0v1 down, with Pakefield deserving their lead. The score could have been worse but for some excellent goal keeping by Ben. With the team receiving some harsh words at half time, the boys came out much more purpose, putting pressure on the Pakefield defence and finally starting to play the football that has put them in 2nd place in the league table. A long range lob from Ashley brought Freethorpe back into the game, his 2nd goal of the season and an important goal for the team which made the score 1v1. As the 2nd half went on Pakefield continued to threaten and Ben had to be at his best to keep out the Pakefield attackers. With about 10 minutes to go, Henry slotted a through ball to the lighting quick Liam, who promptly slid a ball under the advancing keeper to make the score 2v1, giving the Freethorpe supporters something to cheer about. Both teams battled hard in a sporting game, however there was to be no further goals in this closely contested game of football. MoM Ben, some excellent keeping by the Freethorpe star stopper. Freethorpe U12's were away to Sole Bay Hunters. Freethorpe were slow to get started and while they looked good going forward they looked vunerable when under attack and Hunters drew frist blood and went 1 up, then Freethorpe switched on and were soon level with Luke netting a fine individual goal, they then piled on the pressure and soon took the lead with a goal from Danny but the hunters soon got back onto level terms. Freethorpe got to grips with the game and with goals coming from luke 3, Danny 2, Tom N 1 and Kieran 1, the game finished 7-4 to Freethorpe. There was a great debut from George. M.O.M Jordan for his tireless work the whole game. Well done Freethorpe.

Sunday 17th December 06 Hemsby Hornets B V Freethorpe FC B U10.

It was a cold and damp, sunny winters morning. When a team of six players turned up at Hemsby’s ground raring to go, knowing they had no subs and were playing with one less than the other team. Bailey, Adam, Kimberley, Dylan, Calum and Bethany went out and gave a performance that showed the spirit in the team that has kept them coming back to Freethorpe after having no wins or points for 2 seasons.
The pitch was really heavy but the players gave everything and played some good football in the conditions. Midway in the first half Calum took a good goal after some good groundwork by all. Come Half time the children were puffing hard but still winning. The players then went out second half and remembered that there are to halves to game and continued to play in the same way. Credit to Hemsby they put our goal under some good pressure but lady luck was with us today. Bethany And Kimberley came close to scoring as the team battled on. In the last 10 minutes they had run out of steam but for some good defending by Dylan, Calum and Adam, also helped by Bailey ruling his box today we kept a clean sheet. Well done to everyone and thanks to the parents for supporting us. I hope the win has made it all worth it.

Freethorpe this week played a sporting Marsh Harriers side at home on a fresh winters afternoon. The boys started well, ensuring the opposition defense were kept on their toes and went close on a couple of occasions before taking the lead, with Tyler breaking through from midfield and finishing nicely from close range. Midway through the 1st half, Henry found himself free at the far post and a tidy finish left the boys 2v0 up. Freethorpe battled well throughout the 1st half with Ben having a relatively quiet time in goal. Just before half time, a cross into the opposition box was met by Lee and the ball found itself in the Harriers net. A 3v0 half time lead was deserved and after last weeks struggle to score goals it was nice to see the boys have a little more confidence in front of goal. The 2nd half was a much tighter affair, with the game flowing from end to end. An early goal from Liam, after an excellent shot from Jordan-Lee gave Freethorpe a 4v0 lead straight from the kick off. Within 2 minutes, the opposition had pulled one back, with the Freethorpe defence caught cold, after a long kick from the Harriers keeper found the opposition striker and a nice finish past the onrushing Ben. Jordan-Lee popped up with another goal midway through the 2nd half, finishing nicely from the edge of the box and making the score 5v1. The opposition never let their heads drop and continued to break forward with purpose, with the woodwork saving Freethorpe twice before they scored again to make the score 5v2. Henry continued to work tirelessly upfront and scored before the end of the game after bursting through and robbing the Harriers defender and slotting the ball home to score his 8th goal of the season. An entertaining game finished 6v2, with this being the last game, before a top of the table clash with Sole Bay Hunters early in the new year. MoM Henry, another excellent performance from our little striker, with another couple of goals to add to his season tally. Gareth & Neil would like to wish all our players and supporters a merry Xmas and a happy new year.

On a cold frosty Sunday morning Freethorpe were entertained by a lively St Benets Wasps C side who were much quicker out of the blocks than us, and not for the heroics of Bradley in goal we were looking down the barrel of a cricket score. We went in at half time 4 nil down. Freethorpe boys came out in the second half with the right attitude and started to play the football we all know they can. Kieran started to boss the midfield and good work from him and Jim saw Kieran hammer the ball home. Jim scored an impressive second and Freethorpe were unlucky not to gain anything from the game. M.O.M Bradley for his first half performance kept us in the game and Kieran for his second half performance which typified Freethorpes fighting spirit.

Freethorpe travelled away to Waveney E on a cold December afternoon with a slightly depleted squad, with Joseph unfortuantly fallling unwell prior to kick off and Natty having departed to Kuwait. The game started well for Freethorpe, with Tyler bossing the midfield, and Ashley & Matthew keeping things tight at the back. Early pressure, saw Freethorpe going close on a number of occasions, however a heavy pitch hampered the boys attempts to pass the ball as well as they have done in recent weeks. It wasn't long before the deadlock was broken, with Henry, slipping a ball into the net from 2-3 yards, to make the score 1v0. This was Henry's sixth goal of the season and capped another impressive performance from our striker. Despite piling on the pressure, a mixture of selfish play and sloppy finishing, meant Freethorpe were unable to add any more goals before the break. After the half time team talk, the boys came out and continued to pile on the pressure, however the woodwork and an some excellent goalkeeping, prevented Freethorpe from extending their lead. Matthew, Lee & Ashley all did well, when called upon in defence, with Waveney breaking quickly when Freethorpe attacking moves broke down. Jordan-Lee was a constant threat in the 2nd half, working hard down the left wing and he was unlucky to not find himself on the scoresheet despite a couple of really long range efforts which went close. The game finished 1v0 which was a pleasing result, with Ben having another quiet game in goal, but another clean sheet is something for our keeper to be happy with. The boys will need to sharpen their shooting skills and learn to finish off games much earlier if they want to continue keeping the pressure on the side(s) at top of the table. MoM this week, Matthew, with the strikers failing to capitlise on their chances this week, a strong performance from our tough tackling defender was needed and he impressed throughout the game. Next Match versus Marsh Harriers at home, kick off @ 2pm, meet the village hall @1:30pm.

Freethorpe were keen to improve on an impressive performance last week and fielded the same team Olivia having been taken sick. Bungay kicked off and and put Freethorpe under some early pressure, the Freethorpe defence looked solid with Elizabeth, Ellen and Rebekah all making some good early challenges and not allowing Bungay to threaten their goal. A good bungay shot from a short corner was well tipped over by Libby.Emma and Erin both worked hard and were tracking back well but were unable to create any real chances. Bungay continued to press and Elizabeth was forced to track back well to clear the danger. Jessica got her foot on the ball and played an inteligent pass but it was well cut out by Bungay. Missy then replaced Jessica and was quickly involved with some good strong challenges.Half time came and there had been no score. Claire started the second half giving the hard working Erin a breather, she was quick to make som good short passes and looked like she was having one of her best games.Freethorpe turned the tide in the secondhalf and were putting Bungay under a lot of pressure and creating chances but Emma and Missy were unable to convert them. Claire then had to go off after takig a blow to the stomach blocking a Bungay clearance. A rare Bungay attack forced Libby to come off her line and with Rebekahs help the danger was cleared. Elizabeth was foraging forward more in the second half as Freethorpe continued to press but they could not find the ellusive goal. Elizabeth then had to come off injured and while trying to re-organise Bungay took advantage and scored a well taken goal to take the lead against the run of play. Freethorpe continued to press for the equaliser but could not find that equaliser. This was yet another good performance by Freethorpe that was unlucky not to yield at least a point keep trying girls the goals will come. G.O.M. Elizabeth

FREETHORPE U13'S played an unbeaten Waveney B in a crunch game. As expected the first half was very close with Freethorpe going 1-0 up via a penalty from Dan after Mark was fouled after a good run. Waveney fought back to score two goals and take the lead at half time. In the second half Freethorpe scored straight from the kick off via a great finish from James to level the scores up and totally change the game. Freethorpe added two more goals via Lewis and Sam and from then on Freethorpe looked in control though a third goal from Waveney always looked a danger until Sam scored his second to make it 5-2 and seal the game. The game was played in wet conditions, very competitive and a credit to all players involved. No game this week.

Freethorpe U12's hosted Gorleston Rangers B in what turned out to be an exciting end to end game. Gorleston were the fastest out of the blocks and Freethorpe managed to cope with the early pressure and then settled down and started to knock the ball around, and it wasn't long before William found the back of the net with a super strike. The lads confidence started to grow and the defence coped well with what Gorleston threw at them,Matty, Jordan, Chris and Jack worked well as a unit at the back. Freethorpe then doubled their lead with Tomo scoring with a great finish. Gorleston then got 1 back which set the game up for an exciting second half. Gorleston really went for it in the second half but the lads defended solidly with the new signing Jimbo breaking up play and having a super debut. Gorleston were awarded a penalty in the closing minutes of the game, but Bradley pulled off a world class save and Freethorpe went on to take the points. This was the last game for Joash whom has shown to be a great team player and a true sportsman, he will be sorely missed. Good Luck Joash. M.O.M The Team.

Freethorpe this week faced a sporting Gunton side at home, on a heavy pitch soaked by a pre-match rainstorm. As the game started, Freethorpe applied some early pressure and went close on a couple of occasions, before taking the lead with a lucky own goal scored by one of the opposition defence. With Tyler working tirelessly in midfield, Freethorpe dominated the 1st period and an excellent throughball from our star midfielder, left Henry running through and an excellent finish at the near post made the score 2v0. Freethorpe had other chances to score but some brilliant goalkeeping by the Gunton goalkeeper kept the score down. As the half drew to a close, an excellent corner from Ashley caused the keeper problems and Liam was on hand to back heel the ball over the line for 3v0. This was the last kick of an exciting first half display by Freethorpe. In the 2nd half, Freethope started slowly and some slack defending by the team, left a Gunton player 1 on 1 with Ben and a tidy finish pegged the score back to 3v1. The re-introduction of Tyler into midfield, saw Freethorpe take a grip of the game again and before long the Gunton keeper was being called into action and a string of excellent saves left the Freethorpe crowd wondering whether they would see any more goals. Freethorpe continued to pile on the pressure and 5 minutes before the end, a ball dropped to Jordan-Lee in the box and with the goal to his mercy he smashed a ball home from 3-4 yards making the score 4v1. The game still wasn't finished and before the end, another super corner from Ashley was met by the head of Tyler to cap another excellent display from our box to box midfielder, leaving the score 5v1 at the final whistle. This was the teams 1st headed goal of the season, maybe, just maybe, the work done in training on headers is starting to have the right effect. This was a really excellent team performance in very tricky conditions, with goalkeeper Ben, rarely troubled in the Freethorpe goal. Everyone connected with Freethorpe U9's would like to wish Natty all the best for his pending move to Kuwait with his family. MoM this week Tyler, an all action display capped off with a brilliant headed goal (yes, that was a Tyler header!!!) Next match we are away playing Waveney E, kick off times to be confirmed.

THIS WEEK TRAVELLED TO ORMESBY TO PLAY A REARRANGED GAME FORM EARLIER IN THE SEASON.THE FIRST HALF SAW FREETHORPE GOING UP A STEEP HILL.THIS DID NOT STOP THE TEAM FROM CONTINUING THEIR GOOD FORM FROM RECENT GAMES.REBEKAH G WAS AGAIN OUTSTANDING IN DEFENCE PLAYING WITH HER HEAD AS WELL AS HER FEET BREAKING UP THE ORMESBY ATTACKS MANY TIMES.ERIN K LOOKED SHARP UP FRONT AND WORKED BACK HARD AS WELL WHEN HER DEFENDER BROKE FORWARD.JESSICA H STARTING THE MATCH HAD HER BEST GAME EVER RUNNING HARD FOR THE TEAM AND LOOKING DANGEROUS WHEN BREAKING FORWARD.

THE GAME WAS EVENLY MATCHED BUT AFTER 15 MINUTES ORMESBY BROKE THROUGH AND BEAT THE IMPRESSIVE LIBBY B IN GOAL TO TAKE THE LEAD.FREETHORPE REALLY TRIED TO FIND THE EQUALISER WITH EMMA P RUNNING ALL OVER THE PITCH PROMPTING FREETHORPE'S PLAY.ELLEN P AND ELIZABETH G DEFENDED WELL SUPPORTED WELL BY CLAIRE A IN MIDFIELD. THE HALF ENDED 0-1 TO ORMESBY.

THE SECOND HALF GOING DOWN THE HILL PROVED MORE DIFFICULT THAN EXPECTED.THE BALL WAS PLAYED TOO LONG AND WAS HARD TO CATCH.HOWEVER FREETHORPE PRESSED HARD AND NEVER GAVE UP THE CAUSE.LIBBY B IN GOAL HAD TO BE AT HER BEST TO KEEP OUT ORMESBY WHEN THEY BROKE AWAY UP THE HILL.THE SEARCH FOR THE EQUALISER ENDED IN HEARTBREAK WHEN LATE IN THE GAME ORMESBY SCORED THEIR SECOND QUICKLY FOLLOWED BY A THIRD.

A GOOD EVENLY CONTESTED MATCH PLAYED BY BOTH TEAMS A GAME WHEN FREETHORPE HAD LOTS OF THE PLAY WITHOUT CREATING CLEAR-CUT CHANCES.

FREETHORPE U14 GIRLS PLAYED AGAINST BUNGAY TOWN.THIS WAS AN EVEN GAME WITH BOTH TEAMS DEFENDING WELL AND HAVING A HANDFUL OF CHANCES ON GOAL.FREETHORPE GOT TWO IN THE BACK OF THE NET WITH MIA SCORING HER SECOND GOAL IN TWO GAMES AND LOUISE SCORING HER FIRST.BUNGAY ALSO MANAGED TO SCORE TWICE LEAVING THE SCORE AT HALF TIME AT 2-2.

FREETHORPE WERE ON A HIGH AND ELLEN HAD SEVERAL OPPORTUNITIES TO PUT BUNGAY OUT OF THE GAME BUT A LAPSE IN CONCENTRATION LET BUNGAY SCORE AGAIN.FREETHORPES HEADS DROPPED WHICH ALLOWED BUNGAY TO SCORE THREE FURTHER GOALS MAKING THE FINAL SCORE 6-2 TO BUNGAY.

THIS WEEK ENTERTAINED HIGH FLYING SHRUBLANDS A.FREETHORPE LINED UP WITH 3 IN DEFENCE REBEKAH G ON THE RIGHT, ELLAN P CENTRAL AND ELIZABETH G ON THE LEFT.THIS WAS IN EXPECTATION OF SHRUBLANDS ATTACKING STRONGLY.SHRUBLANDS DID NOT LET US DOWN AND PEPPERED OUR DEFENCE EARLY ON WITH THERE LONG BALL TACTICS WHICH ARE VERY EFFECTIVE.

FREETHORPE'S DEFENCE DID A GREAT JOB WITH ALL THREE DEFENDERS PLAYING WELL.WHEN THE SHRUBS DID GET PAST THE THEY FOUND LIBBY B IN IRRESISTIBLE FORM IN GOAL MAKING SOME GREAT SAVES AND COMING OFF HER LINE WELL.

OLIIVA S AND MISSY H WORKED HARD TO HELP THE DEFENCE WITH SOME GREAT RUNNING AND STRONG TACKLES.ERIN K WAS AGAIN ISOLATED UP FRONT WITH LITTLE SUPPORT AND STRUGGLED TO MAKE AN IMPACT.

SHRUBS DID MANAGE TO TAKE A DESERVED 3-0 LEAD MIDWAY THROUGH THE FIRST HALF AFTER SOME SUSTAINED PRESSURE DESPITE FREETHORPE PLAYING WELL.

FREETHORPE INTRODUCED JESSICA H AND EMMA P TO THE FRAY AND WHEN SHRUBLANDS TOOK THERE FOOT OF THE GAS FREETHORPE POUNCED WITH TWO GREAT GOALS FROM OLIVIA S AND EMMA P.JESSICA H AGAIN SHOWED WHAT A STRONG RUNNER WITH THE BALL SHE IS AND EMMA P LOOKED VERY TIDY WITH HER PLAY.THE BREAK CAME WITH THE SHRUBS LEADING 3-2.

THE SECOND HALF WAS VERY CLOSE THROUGHOUT.WHEN ERIN K RETURNED TO THE PLAY SHE LOOKED VERY SHARP AND MADE SOME GREAT RUNS PRESSURING FOR THE EQUALISER.CLAIRE A AGAIN SLOTTED NICELY INTO MIDFIELD AND DID A GREAT JOB FOR THE TEAM.

FREETHORPE WERE NOW PLAYING THE BEST FOOTBALL SINCE THE TEAM WAS FORMED WITH ALL THE GIRLS GIVING IT THEIR ALL CHASING THE EQUALISER.LATE IN THE GAME HOWEVER SHRUBS SCORED A FOURTH GOAL TO SEAL THE VICTORY 4-2.

THIS WAS A WONDERFUL GAME BY BOTH TEAMS PLAYED IN A SPORTING SPIRIT AND WAS A GREAT ADVERTISEMENT FOR GIRLS FOOTBALL .THE GAME SHOWED WHAT A MASSIVE IMPROVEMENT CAN BE MADE WITH EFFORT AND COMMITMENT IN A SHORT SPACE OF TIME.

FREETHORPE U13'S playing Caister in an early kick off, were clearly more awake than Freethorpe. Caister going downhill put Freethorpe uner pressure from the start and after 15 minutes took the lead. Freethorpe then went straight up the other end and equalised via Dominic Smith. Instead of Freethorpe then taking control Caister carried on attacking and with the Freethorpe defence looking a little shaky took the lead again and yet again Freethorpe soon equalised via a penalty from Dan after Dominic Smith was fouled. The game then started to even up with Freethorpe then taking the lead nearing the end of the first half via Mark Robinson. Dan could not carry on for Freethorpe still suffering from last weeks injury so changes were made at half time. Tom Marriott doing man to man marking, Dominic Smith slotting in beside him at centre back and Mark Robinson moving up front. After this Freethorpe looked a lot better and scored again via Sam Coleman after quick thinking following a poor kick from the Caister keeper to give Freethorpe a 4-2 lead. Freethorpe were still in control although the game was looking scrappy and Caister always looked dangerous on the break. Freethorpe then lost their keeper Ben through injury after a brilliant saving tackle. With Dan replacing him in goal Caister then gave Freethorpe another scare with a shot bringing the score to 4-3. However, this time Freethorpe were more settled and goals by Mark Robinson and Callum Boggis sealed the game. This week away to Waveney B kick off 12.00pm.

Freethorpe this week travelled to Bungay Town for their first early morning kick off of the season and started the game looking a little sleepy. A tight first half saw Freethorpe with most of the pressure and there was plenty of effort from all the boys, however the passing football seen in previous weeks performance was a miss and resulted in teams going in all square at half time. The 2nd half was a different story and some excellent passing football split the Bungay defence time and time again. Early in the 2nd half, some excellent work from Liam left Tyler with time and space to slam the ball home. Throughout the 2nd half, Freethorpe worked hard for each other and time and time again Freethorpe went close. Jordan had an excellent game up front, displaying excellent ball control and vision when on the ball and Matthew had another strong game both in defence and midfield as they game drew to a close. A combination of wasteful finishing and the crossbar left the final score 1v0 to Freethorpe in a match, which again showed the boys are really starting to understand that football is so much easier, when they are passing the ball around. Freethorpe U12 Girls B v Wynmondam Town
Freethorpe won their first ever match 6-1. This was a fantastic game to watch, every player played their best game for the club. Lily B made several tremendous saves during the match, Olivia J was again outstanding and tackled agressivly through out the game, Molly D, defended superbly also, Isabel S, Lauren S, Becky H, Sophie M and Danielle L all had outstanding games. Freethorpe took the lead in the 2nd minute with a determined Chloe dribbling past the defence and drilled the ball past the keeper to make it 1-0, Chloe then went on to score her 2nd goal of the game after a great passing move from Lauren and Becky. Chloe went on to score her first ever Hattrick for the club, with excellent help from Lauren,Danielle. Just before Half time Chloe scored yet again much to the delight of her team. making 4-0 at the break, Lily showed great movement in goal and stopped Wynmondam scoring in the first half. In the 2nd half Chloe scored another goal, Wynmondam grabbed a late consolation goal, which they deserved before Chloe went on to score her double hattrick, much to the delight of managers Indra and Mary on the line.
Well done girls your determination and team spirit and eagerness to play well has rewarded you all with this fine win!! congradulations,hopefully this will be the first of many,The club,Parents and Managers are all proud of you.

Freethorpe U12's were away to Ormesby in the shield and this turned out to be another exciting game between the two sides. Freethorpe took an early lead with a well taken goal from Danny but were unable to hold their lead for long and Ormesby did'nt take long before they got an equaliser. The game was end to end and another Ormesby goal soon followed, Freethorpe were then rewarded a penalty which Danny cooly slotted home. Ormesby then settled into the game and another four goals soon followed but Freethorpe did'nt know when they were beaten and continued to play some great football, with some great individual performances coming from Jordan, Chris and Jack. Freethorpe were rewarded for their efforts when the ball dropped to Danny on the edge of the box and he finished with a super strike. A great all round performance in which the boys gave it their all. The game finished 6 - 3 to Ormesby. M.O.M Jack for his hard work from start to finish.

FREETHORPE U13'S were away to Pakefield C and although Freethorpe had all the early pressure, Pakefield defended well and it looked liked being a close game. However, once Freethorpe got their first goal via Dominic Smith more were to follow. Freethorpe lost Dan halfway through the first half due to injury and for only a second time this season we had a sub. So with a full team on the pitch Freethorpe then began to play some lovely football and went on to win 13-0. Freethorpe's goals from Mark Robinson 5, Dominic Smith 3, Sam Coleman 3, James Dowsett 1 and Callum Boggis 1. Thanks to Pakefield for making us feel very welcome. Freethorpe U9 Match report

This week Freethorpe played higher league opposition in Waveney B and put in a fantastic performance, probably the best football played since the team formed. Although Freethorpe were unable to find another victory to bounce back from a loss last weekend, they put in a performance they should all be proud with. As the match started, Freethorpe conceded an early goal, with an unlucky Ben unable to hold onto a shot and a Waveney player following in quickly to slot the ball home, leaving Freethorpe 0v1 down. From this moment onwards, Freethorpe took the game to the opposition and some of the passing football seen between Jordan-Lee, Tyler & Henry was a joy to watch. Freethorpe kept pressing forward with attack after attack and it wasn't long before they drew level with a contender for gaol of the season from Jordan-Lee, drilling a ball into the top corner from the edge of the box. Freethorpe defended strongly, with Matthew having by far his best game in a Freethorpe shirt, winning almost every ball at the back. At the half time whistle, the boys went in 1v1 and when they came out for the 2nd half, they lost their way a little. Two quick goals from Waveney, one of which was a real quality strike from some distance, put the opposition 3v1 up. Midway through the 2nd half, Jordan-Lee was re-united with Henry up front and before long, Freethorpe again found their game and started to pile on pressure to the Waveney goal. With Tyler and Ashley making strong runs from midfield and defence, Freethorpe continued to cause the opposition problems. A long throw from Ashley found Tyler, who rounded the keeper and slotted the ball home from 7 yards into the corner. This made for an exciting finish, with Freethorpe going close on a couple of occasions before the final whistle. The game finished 2v3, however this was a pleasing performance which proves the boys could hold their own playing against opposition from a higher league. Freethorpe this week faced a strong Hemsby C side at home and a big performance was needed to help maintain their excellent start to the season. Freethorpe started well and had a couple of opportunities to open the scoring early on, with Tyler working hard in midfield and Jordan-Lee and Henry making good runs at the opposition defence. Soon after, a goal mouth scramble in the Freethorpe area led to a Hemsby goal and the lads found themselves 0v1 down. As the half went on, Freethorpe nearly scored with Liam bursting through on a 1 on 1 and Jordan-Lee also coming close with a couple of efforts saved well by the Hembsy keeper. A rousing team talk at half time done the trick and Freethorpe came out in the 2nd half looking for a goal to get back into the game. A long throw from Tyler into the Hemsby box, found Henry who pounced on some mis-communication in the Hemsby defence to slip a shot into the net and bring the scores level. From this point onwards, the game went from end to end, with both teams battling really hard trying to get the result. Around 5 minutes from the end, a long throw into the Freethorpe box caused problems for the Freethorpe defence, who simply didnt do enough to clear the danger, a shot found its way past Ben and Hemsby regained their lead. A frantic last 5 minutes was not enough for Freethorpe, who went down to only their 2nd loss of the season 1v2. MoM Henry, for being a threat throughout and giving 110% effort all game. FREETHORPE U13's played Caister at home and though Freethorpe won 11-3, the result was probably a bit hard on a hardworking Caister side that kept going until the end. In the first half the ball was mostly in the Caister half although Freethorpe could not score and Caister always looked dangerous on the break via their 'striker'. Freethorpe eventually opened up the scoring by Matthew Pipe and more soon followed via Dominic Smith 3, Dan 2, Tom Charles 2, Sam 2 and James 1. Caister never gave up and scored 3 of their own one of which was a cracking strike from outside the box. The game was played in the right way and credit goes to players and parents. This week we are at home to Yarmouth B kick off is at 10.30 am.

Freethorpe this week travelled away to Hempnall B on a beautiful day for football. Freethorpe started the game very brightly and took the lead early on, with a well worked corner. Jordan-Lee followed instructions, stayed on the edge of the box and when the ball came out to him, he finished emphatically with a drive from 7-8 yards out. As the half went on, the match evened out. Freethorpe done well to keep their composure as there were a few rough tackles flying in, however this was not really a game with any great malice, more a few mistimed challenges. It took some great saves from Ben to keep the score at 1v0 coming into the break and Freethorpe must defend better against better teams otherwise they will get punished. The 2nd half started much like the 1st, with Freethorpe camped in the oppositions half, however they never really looked threatening in front of goal. Half way through the 2nd half, another well worked corner resulted with Tyler popping up at the near post to convert from 2-3 yards out, making the score 2v0. Everyone worked really hard up to this point, however fitness started to tell as the match went on and as the game drew to a close, Freethorpe started tiring and lost focus on their defence. Before long, a Hempnall throw lead to a Hempnall striker going 1 on 1 with Ben and the Hempnall player finished with a well hit shot from just outside the area. This left a nervy couple of minutes for Freethorpe supporters, all waiting for the final whistle to go. The match did eventually finish 2v1, this was another good team performance away from home, against real competitive opposition. MoM Ben, for some excellent saves throughout the game. FREETHORPE U13'S played in another game the right way and with the correct attitude by both sides and came away with a comfortable win against Oulton Wanderers. Special mention goes to Sam Coleman and Elliott Matthews for playing the simple ball rather than going for glory. Freethorpe's scorers were Dominic Smith 6, Mark Robinson 4, Dan Mcgrath 3, Lewis Gallie 2, Sam Coleman 1. Well done to all. This week at home to Caister 10.30 am kick off.

Freethorpe U12's got back to winning ways against Gorleston Rangers with some superb football being played, backed up with a solid defensive performance from Chris, Matt, Jake and Jordan. Bradley dealt well with anything that came his way and shane delivering some good balls from midfield. The game finished 11-1 to Freethorpe with the goals coming from Tom N 5, Danny 2, Will 2, Jack 1 and Kieran 1. Well done lads keep up the good work.

Freethorpe played Swindell B at home on Sunday and started brightly with Jordan-Lee pouncing on a long throw in from Tyler and smashing the ball into the roof of the net from a tight angle, bringing his goal total to double figures for the season so far. Shortly after taking the lead, a breakdown in communication between Ben and Joseph resulted in an own goal and a sporting Swindell B side were back into the game. As the 1st half drew to the end, Freethorpe were awarded a free kick outside the box. Tyler promptly put the ball down and blasted the ball into the top corner, this was another all action display from our midfield dynamo. The second half kicked off with the score at 2v1, within 5 minutes Ashley furthered the Freethorpe lead with a 20 yard shot which flew in under the cross bar, an excellent strike capped a pleasing display from him in both defence and midfield. Towards the end of the game Freethorpe were awarded a penalty and Liam stepped up to drill the ball home to confirm a 4v1 win. This was another pleasing Freethorpe display in which everyone played their part, with keeper Ben rarely threatened throughout the game. Henry continues to impress up front with his running and dribbling ability, whilst Lee and Matthew are both settling in well as new additions to last years squad. MoM - Ashley, for an excellent strike and flexibility playing in different positions. Next Match away from home against Hempnall B.

Freethorpe U12's played a very well organised Hemsby side who were quicker out of the blocks and never let Freethorpe get back into the game. Freethorpe played well in patches but never got out of second gear. A hat trick from Tom N and a belter from Danny wasn't enough as Freethorpe lost 8-4.

Freethorpe recorded their second win of the season beating Loddon 5-3. A thrilling match against a battling Loddon side. Freethorpe opened the scoring with a 20 yard shot from Elliot after some excellent passing football from Reece and Tom. Loddon then equalized from close range from a loose ball. Freethorpe however quickly regained the lead with Cameron getting on the score sheet again. Tom then got his first goal for the season, his continued strong presence in midfield earning him M.O.M. Freethorpe continued to play good passing football and were rewarded with their forth goal, Elliots second for the day. As the half time whistle blew it looked like Freethorpe would get a comfortable win. After the break however Loddon started the brighter pegging Freethorpe back into their own half. Defending deeper and deeper they got themselves into trouble inviting Loddon to score twice more before sorting themselves out and regaining their shape. A foul saw Reece step up to take a freekick from some 25 yards. His curling goal of the season beat the 3 man wall and the keeper to find the top corner of the net. Another chance went begging late in the game when Aaron's flick on to Cameron saw the speedy striker spoon his shot over the bar from inside the 6yd. box. Lessons to be learnt for this game, but generally a good performance and the second win on the bounce. Well done U11's.

Freethorpe played a battling Yarmouth Youth side in their first home game of the season. Freethorpe attacked the Yarmouth Youth defence from the off. Playing their best game so far, Freethorpe's pressure paid off when Reece scored an excellent goal on 15 mins. Shortly after another long range shot from Reece narrowly missed the target, rebounding off the crossbar,Yarmouth scored on the break after a fine diving save from Marcus. The on form Reece then scored 2 more goals in quick succession, his second hat trick in two weeks. Elliot, Tom and Aaron were dominant in midfield keeping the pressure up on Yarmouth Youth. The second half saw Freethorpe playing uphill and into the Sun, which caught out Marcus when a looping shot came in from long range. In a hard contested match with neither side giving up the win Freethorpe continued to battle hard, Ollie and Ryan covering well for the less experienced players at the back. Cameron, getting used to his upfront role beat his defender with his pace scoring Freethorpe's forth goal. After Yarmouth scored again in an end to end game Tom had a long range effort deflected by the keeper only for Cameron to pounce on the loose ball scoring his second for the day. With Yarmouth scoring their forth goal in the last few minutes of the game the win was never safe. A huge sigh of relief when the final whistle blew Freethorpe the winners 5-4. A vastly improved performance from the whole team resulted in the entire squad being named M.O.M. A well deserved result from all the hard work put in and something to build on next time.

After hearing that Bohemians A team won their last match 25-0. Freethorpe went into the match relishing the challenge. With this being their second game the girls did the club proud,by only losing 14-0. In the first half Freethorpe looked solid with Olivia and Molly outstanding at the back defending amazingly well and when Bohemians did get through the defence they found Isabel in fine form in Goal. Fiona had a good game, Becky had a good game up front along with Lauren who played great her first game for the club. Chloe had another exellent game nearly scoring twice and found herself in goal in the second half making some great saves. Mandy and Sophie gave a 100% and got stuck in and played extremely well. With every girl giving it their all up until the final whistle this is a result all the girls and parents and everyone connected to the club should be proud of. Keep up the good work. FREETHORPE U13's played Yarmouth B away. The first fifteen minutes saw a very close game, until Freethorpe made the breakthrough via Dominic Smith. After this Freethorpe always looked like scoring again, although Yarmouth always kept going and their attitude and determination was a credit to the game. Freethorpe's goal scorers were Dominic Smith 5, Tom Charles 3, Sam Coleman 1, Dan Mcgrath 1 and Callum Bogggis 1. A good result but Freethorpe still need to pass the ball around a lot better. This week away to Oulton Wanderers, 12.30pm kick off.

Freethorpe U9 Match Report

Freethorpe this week travelled to a strong Pakefield E side who were sitting one place higher in the league table at the start of the encounter. On a lovely day for football, Freethorpe started strongly and got off to a flying start with Joseph scoring a long range shot which the Pakefield keeper was unable to reach. As the half went on, Freethorpe continued to pick up momentum and Jordan-Lee pounced in the opposition box and slotted the ball home, to leave the boys 2v0 up as the half time whistle went. In the 2nd half Freethorpe continued to pile on the pressure, although at times were left open for quick counter attacks by the extremely quick Pakefield forwards. Some excellent defending by Joseph, Natty and Matthew meant Pakefield chances were kept to a minimum, although there were definitely a few nervy moments as the 2nd half went on. Before long, Jordan-Lee was again in the right place at the right time, scoring a simple tap in to take his tally to 9 for the season. Some shoddy defending at a corner, left an unmarked Pakefield player with a simple tap in to make the score 3v1. Despite losing a goal, the team kept on working forward with midfielders Tyler/Ashley working extremely hard. Soon, an excellent throw-in from Ashley found Henry in the box, who swivelled and found the net with a crisp volley. In the last 5 minutes Pakefield scored again direct from a corner leaving a final scoreline of 4v2. Although today showed a real need on some work in defending corners, this was a really good team performance, with every one giving 100% against a very sporting Pakefield side. MoM Joseph, for an excellent long range finish and some vital interceptions. Next match, Home against Swindell B - kick off time to be arranged.

FREETHORPE U13's suffered their first defeat of the season to division two side Pakefield in a cup game. In a tight first half it always looked like the first goal would be all important. Ths proved the case coming from Pakefield via a nasty bounce that deceived the Freethorpe keeper. Freethorpe, starting and playing again with only ten never looked like breaking down a well organised Pakefield defence. Freethorpe to their credit battled hard with only nine players much of the second half, never gave up and kept giving their all right to the end. Result was 4-0 to Pakefield. Hopefully the boys will use this as a good learning experience and continue to build on their team work. This week away to Yarmouth Boys, kick off 10.30 am.

Freethorpe U12's travelled to Gorleston in the cup and looked to have settled down early with Danny scoring with a great strike. Freethorpe then struggled to contain Gorleston and Bradley was the busier of the two keepers and pulled off some wonderful saves. ERIN K WAS SOMEWHAT ISOLATED UP FRONT BUT WORKED HARD AGAINST SOME STOUT DEFENDING.

Match report for Freethorpe U9s

Freethorpe this week played their first ever game in a cup competition against an excellent Mutford side from Division 1. Despite going down early in the 1st half, Freethorpe worked hard as a team and managed to keep the score down to 0v3 at half time. After the break, the match became a little more competitive and for a time it looked that Freethorpe might prevent any further goals being scored against. As the 2nd half went on, the superior passing football played by Mutford side soon began to tell and in the last 10 minutes the away side created a number of good goal scoring opportunities, as well as scoring a further 3 goals. At the end of the game final score finished 0v6, however Freethorpe can hold their heads high for giving 100% effort throughout the match, the score may have also been closer but for some soft defending by the team. This was always going to be a tough fixture for the lads, against a side who clearly deserve their Division 1 status. The passing football played by Mutford was a pleasure to watch at times and this defeat will hopefully help the lads in their ongoing development. MoM Joseph D, who made many vital interceptions at the heart of Freethorpe defence. Next week we are back in League action, playing another difficult game away from home, this time against a Pakefield side who have won all their 3 games played so far this season. A good team performance will be required to give our season the kick start it needs, after a couple of recent defeats.

FREETHORPE U13's were at home Sunday to St Benets B. After a close first ten minutes Freethorpe opened the scoring via Sam Coleman and after this the result was never in doubt. More goals then followed another one from Sam and two from Lewis Gallie plaing his first game for the club. Two more then came from Tom Charles and one each from Dominic Smith, Mark Robinson and James Dowsett plus an own goal. St Benets to their credit never gave up and scored two in the second half. For the first time this season Freethorpe had eleven players even with regular goalkeeper Ben on holiday. Well done to Dan Mcgrath for stepping into goal and to Matthew Pipe for goal duties ten minutes into the second half. This week we play Pakefield B in the cup who are a second division side, this should be a very interesting game. Kick off at Freethorpe 10.30 am.

Freethorpe started this weeks game top of the league, facing Sole Bay Hunters sitting 2nd in the league. A highly competitive game started with an early goal against, with a long range freekick going in low by the post. Despite going one down early, Freethorpe battled hard and in a half of few chances, were unlucky to go in at the break 0v1 down. In the 2nd half, Freethorpe pressed against an excellent Sole Bay defence and created a number of chances. In a 10 minute spell, the introduction of Liam as a sub proved a master stoke, as he latched onto a loose ball in the box and calmy stoked the ball past the Sole Bay keeper. All was looking good for a 1v1 draw, but a mixture of slack defending and some horrendous playing conditions led to some excellent counter attacks from Sole Bay and 5 minutes before the end they scored the winning goal. MoM Liam Browne, for some determined running up front. Training now started on Monday Nights 6-7pm, next Match at home to Gunton (cup), 2pm kick off, meet at ground at 1:30pm

FREETHORPE U13'S began their third game of the season again with ten players away at Bungay. Despite spending most of the first half in the oppositions half, Freethorpe created chances and took the lead after fifteen minutes with a good finish from Tom Charles. Freethorpe could not add further and Bungay equalised with a good freekick which materialised from a "break away". The decision was made at half time to go three at the back and send Matthew Pipe up front to help out. This paid dividends for after ten minutes he scored following some good work by Tom Charles. Freethorpe continued to dominate and goals were added via a cracker from outside the box from Tom Marriott which was deflected by Dan. Bungay always looked dangerous on the break. The lack of chances Freethorpe created was a bit worrying but at least the result was right. This week we are at home to St Benets B.

Freethorpe did'nt take long to settle down and start finding the back of the net with goals coming from Luke 7, Dan 3, Tom 3, Will 1 and 1 for Reece. Yet again Bradley, Matt, Jordan, Jake and Jack doing good work at the back and Shane and Tom B never giving up saw the boys secure another win. Credit to Waveney whom never gave up and worked hard.

Match report for Freethorpe U9's

Freethorpe travelled to Marsh Harriers for their 2nd game of the season and came away with a comfortable 7v0 win. A lively 1st half saw Freethorpe play some excellent passing football, with the team coming in 5v0 at the break. 2 goals a piece for Jordan-Lee and Henry, with a further strike from Lee, who was making his 1st appearance since a couple of outings for the side last year. In the 2nd half Freethorpe continued to press against a sporting Harriers side, who never gave up. But for some excellent goalkeeping by the home keeper the score could have been much higher, however Freethorpe had to settle for 2 further goals from Jordan-Lee, taking his tally for the season to 7 in 2 games. This was again, a fantastic team performance, solid defending by both Matty and Joseph, Tyler working tireslessy in midfield. Special mention to Ben who has now kept 2 clean sheets on the trot, an excellent start to the season. MoM Henry, for a lively performance upfront, not only did he score a couple of goals, but also made a couple more assists. FREETHORPE STARTED THE GAME VERY POSITIVELY WITH ELLAN P AND ELIZABETH G LOOKING VERY ALERT AND SHARP IN DEFENCE.MISSY H IN MIDFIELD WAS STRONG IN THE TACKLE AND IMPOSED HER PRESENCE ON THE GAME.

Freethorpe B v Shrublands A

With this being Freethorpe Girls B team's first game of the season under management of Indra and Mary, Freethorpe started the game brightly with Emma and Danielle looking good in the middle of the pitch passing the ball well. After 10 minutes Freethorpe took the lead much to the delight of the supporters when Chloe dribbled the ball around two players and slotted the ball past the keeper, for Freethorpe B's first ever goal! There was good defending from Molly, Isobel and Olivia and some good saves from Lily in Goal. Freethorpe held their own against a very good Shrublands team who then went on to score 7 goals to win the match 7-1. A special mention to Amanda,Becky, Sophie and Olivia who played their first ever competetive match. With team spirit high and everyone enjoying the game all 10 girls did the club proud,keep up the good work and team spirit and the results will come! Well played to Shrublands and their supporters and the ref for their part in the match.
