FREETHORPE U9s
Played their penultimate game of the season at home to the high flying Bohemians. The boys produced the performance of the season with a great all-round display recording a 5-2 victory.
The first half saw Freethorpe going down the hill, the pace of the game was fast with both teams playing well and tackerling hard. Reece and Thomas were as usual causing the opposition problems with their strength, pace, and good inter-play.
Liam S soon had to be withdrawn after a strong block-tackle. Ollie again came on and proved a able replacement with some good defensive play against a centre forward 18" taller. Perry back to his best had a M.O.M display defending well, starting off Freethorpe's forward play with great passing out of defence. A mature performance showing what a great footballing brain he has. Reece and Thomas both got a goal to reward their good work for Freethorpe to lead 2-0 at the break.
The second half saw Bohemians start in a determined fashion pressuring Freethorpe's defence. Aaron worked hard in defence and midfield assisting Ollie and Perry ride out the storm.
Luke was very solid in goal with assured handling and kicking well to relieve the pressure. Bohemians scored and the result looked in doubt. Freethorpe as a team responded together to up the tempo. Liam D had his best game of the season looking lively up-front and causing Bohemians defence problems with his pace.
Reece and Thomas both worked hard and tackled back when necessary to help the defence.
Freethorpe played the counter attacking game well up the hill with Perry's passing and Reece, Thomas and Liam D running strong and breaking fast. The excellent Reece completed his hat-trick with two more thunderous shots and Liam D got his deserved goal to give Freethorpe an excellent 5-1 deserved victory.
