FREETHORPE U12S GIRLS
Freethorpe U12 girls V Silfield U12 girls
The game was played on a fine Sunday afternoon with a strong wind blowing from one end to the other. Silfield were only able to field six girls but looked a bigger and stronger side as the girls lined up. Silfield kicked off and immediately attacked the Freethorpe side, who did not appear to realise the game had started, before Freethorpe had got a touch on the ball they found themselves a goal down. Freethorpe then settled down and shortly after came close to getting the equaliser, Charlotte B put Megan S through she strode purposely forward towards the Silfield goal, then unleashed a powerful shot the keeper did well to parry, she was first to the rebound but once again the keeper pulled off a fine save. Silfield were quickly back threatening the Freethorpe goal and scraped the bar with a good shot and Isabel S had to be quick off her line to thwart another attack. Silfield finished off a fine passing move to go further ahead. Louise B making her debut was working tirelessly in midfield and Georgia G was once again sharp in the tackle at the back. The Silfield players showed their experience, strength and pace to score another four goals before the break the pick of which was a header from a corner kick. Freethorpe made a number of changes in the latter part of the first half and at half time keeping with their policy of giving all the girls a fair chance and kicked off the second half into a strong head wind. Silfield continued to dominate the game and with the Freethorpe girls showing them too much respect Silfield scored a further five goals. Freethorpe’s best chance came late on when Rebekah G made a strong run down the right stopped only by a last ditch tackle from Silfield, not to be out done she tried a cheeky back heel that Erin K was unlucky not to get on to. The girls should not be down hearted by this result as Silfield are one of the best sides you have come up against, the hard work being put in on the training ground will eventually payoff, everyone of the girls has improved beyond recognition and this is your first season in a very tough league.
