Subject: Freethorpe under 8's v Burnt Hill 95
Rachel,
Could you please forward to the Mercury as usual,
In the third game of the season, we unfortunately lost away to Burnt Hill 95, although we lost by 7 - 2 there was still some positives to come out of the game. For the first time this season we went into the lead starting with a goal from Oliver after good work from Ashley H getting to the line and crossing a good ball to the near post. The second goal came from some quick thinking from a throw in followed by another goal for Ashley H, but this time instead of coming from behind it was Freethorpe who were pulled back by Burnt Hill who managed to score three times before half time.
Early in the second half Burnt hill were fortunate to have there fourth goal stand as the ball was kicked away from goalkeeper Ben's hands. The game was competed throughout as a fairly even contest, but in fairness Burnt Hill deserved there victory playing some good football and always seemed more physically strong.
Once again Ben's kicking improved, and Joseph played and tackled very well when he came on, Ashley S and Liam tried hard as well and Danny had one or two good runs also. Bailey, Oliver and William were put under alot of pressure by the Burnt Hill lads hunting in packs and they will have learnt from that, Ashley H hit the post late on and a couple of other chances were missed which could have given us a more respectable scoreline.
A hard game with some points to work on in training , will make us stronger as the season continues.
Thanks,
Gary
freeyfc: Sunday Morning training session
freeyfc: MARCUS
Marcus (first team Adult Manager) and Paddy (first team Adult player) took the Sunday morning training session for both boys and girls and were very impressed by the attitude and application of all those that attended.
They went through basic warm-up and stretching exercises before moving on to a small sided game.
The players were then divided into smaller groups to learn some basic techniques on controlling and passing the ball, which included calling names, preparing to receive the ball and the importance of moving the ball quickly and accurately.
The players then had another small sided game to apply the skills they had just learnt in a game environment.
The session was most enjoyable and the plan for this sunday is to revise what was learnt from the last session before moving on to dribbling and turning with the ball.

YOUTH FOOTBALL REPORT
FREETHORPE U9's
This week played Pakefield 'C'. The game started brightly with both teams playing well and play was flowing from end to end. Freethorpe forced a corner which Thomas took and the lively Reece scored with a glancing header. Aaron having his best game ever was strong in the tackle and passing well, he then scored his first goal in the league with a long range shot. At the other end Luke made two great saves to keep Pakefield out.
Liam S, Ollie and Aaron defended well with discipline throughout the game against lively opposition. Thomas scored the 3rd goal after another great Aaron pass. Alex playing in several positions throughout the game was a imposing presence. Liam D looked lively and worked hard. Pakefield deservedly got one back after Reece had scored a great goal with a rising shot.
Liam S went close from a Thomas corner and Alex had hard luck with two free kicks from long range. Reece then scored his 3rd and 4th goals both from long range free kicks. Luke continued his excellent form in goal making some top class saves late on in the game.
Gary's MOM Aaron C for a excellent all-round display.

u9s report
FREETHORPE U9s
Played there first league game ever against Gorleston Rangers 'B' at Freethorpe.
The game started and Rangers quickly took the lead inside a minute. Considering the boys have only played one summer tournament and could have been 'Game Rusty' they did not drop there heads and worked hard to contain a good Rangers side.
Freethorpe began to get back into the game with Reece and Thomas looking dangerous.
Then after 14 mins somewhat against the run of play Gorleston scored there second goal. Freethorpe would not give in and played well with Liam and Perry defending well and starting play off.
The second half saw Reece get one back with a flick from new boy Alex's free kick.
Thomas then equalised to make the game even at 2-2. MOM Luke had a great game in goal making some tremendous saves and kicking well., with rolling subs the game continued to be close with Oliver, Aaron, and Liam D all playing there part. Gorleston late on went 3-2 up but Freethorpe would not give in and Alex scored a late equaliser in a good even game
