Subject: Freethorpe under 8's v Burnt Hill 95
Rachel,
Could you please forward to the Mercury as usual,
In the third game of the season, we unfortunately lost away to Burnt Hill 95, although we lost by 7 - 2 there was still some positives to come out of the game. For the first time this season we went into the lead starting with a goal from Oliver after good work from Ashley H getting to the line and crossing a good ball to the near post. The second goal came from some quick thinking from a throw in followed by another goal for Ashley H, but this time instead of coming from behind it was Freethorpe who were pulled back by Burnt Hill who managed to score three times before half time.
Early in the second half Burnt hill were fortunate to have there fourth goal stand as the ball was kicked away from goalkeeper Ben's hands. The game was competed throughout as a fairly even contest, but in fairness Burnt Hill deserved there victory playing some good football and always seemed more physically strong.
Once again Ben's kicking improved, and Joseph played and tackled very well when he came on, Ashley S and Liam tried hard as well and Danny had one or two good runs also. Bailey, Oliver and William were put under alot of pressure by the Burnt Hill lads hunting in packs and they will have learnt from that, Ashley H hit the post late on and a couple of other chances were missed which could have given us a more respectable scoreline.
A hard game with some points to work on in training , will make us stronger as the season continues.
Thanks,
Gary
