YOUTH FOOTBALL REPORT
FREETHORPE U9S
THIS WEEK PLAYED TOP OF THE LEAGUE BOHEMIANS AWAY.WITH THREE BOYS AWAY ON HOLIDAY THIS WAS ALWAYS GOING TO BE A STIFF TEST.WHAT A RESPONSE THE WHOLE TEAM WERE EXCELLENT THROUGHOUT GIVING EVERYTHING TO MAKE THE UNBEATEN BOHEMIANS PULL OUT ALLTHE STOPS TO MAINTAIN THEIR RUN.
THE GAME STARTED AT A GOOD PACE WITH BOHEMIANS PUTTING FREETHORPE UNDER IMMENSE PRESSURE.FREETHORPE RESPONDED WITH DISCIPLINED DEFENDING FROM PERRY,LIAM S AND AARON AND LUKE WAS AGAIN EXCELLENT IN GOAL SAVING AT LEAST 4 GOALBOUND ATTEMPTS. FREETHORPE CLAWED THEMSELVES BACK INTO THE GAME WITH LIAM D A CONSTANT THREAT WITH HIS STRONG, PACEY AND DIRECT RUNS. REECE WAS ALSO PLAYING WELL WHEN HE UNLEASHED A THUNDEROUS SHOT FROM 20 YARDS FOR FREETHORPE TO TAKE THE LEAD. FREETHORPE HELD ON TO THE LEAD TO COME IN 1-0 UP AT THE BREAK.
THE SECOND HALF SAW FREETHORPE PLAYING UP THE HILL WITH NO SUBS THIS WAS A HARD TASK BOHEMIANS EQUALISED WHEN LUKE MISJUDGED A SPECULATIVE CROSS.
FREETHORPE AGAIN TOOK THE GAME TO BOHEMIANS WITH PERRY AGAIN PLAYING A CULTURED GAME, LIAM S TACKERLING AND RUNNING HARD AND MOM LIAM D CAUSING ALL SORT OF PROBLEMS FOR THE BOHEMIANS WITH HIS PACE AND DRIBBERLING. FREETHORPE JUST COULD NOT SCORE FROM NUMEROUS CHANCES. BOHEMIANS SOAKED UP THE PRESSURE AND BROKE WELL TO SCORE TWICE AND WIN 3-1.
A GREAT GAME CONTESTED BY 2 GOOD U9S TEAMS PROBABLY THE LACK OF SUBS COST FREETHORPE THE RESULT. BOTH TEAMS CAN BE PROUD OF THE EFFORT AND SKILL FROM ONES SO YOUNG.
